Meet Jacob
Major: computer science
Hometown: New York City, NY
Why did you choose Cornell and/or Cornell Engineering?
I chose Cornell Engineering because of its interdisciplinary focus. While I primarily am interested in computer science, I find myself enjoying a bunch of different subjects. The engineering curriculum, while still heavy on its core STEM classes, also allows you the flexibility to pursue other subjects. I ended up discovering operations research and information engineering and getting a minor in it!
What is your favorite thing about Cornell and/or Cornell Engineering?
The collaborative nature of Cornell Engineering is second to none. Everyone around, both my peers and course staff, are always willing to help me when I struggle on assignments and schoolwork. Group projects are also a heavy focus of engineering, which prepared me well for career growth.
How did you get involved outside the classroom?
Clubs are an excellent way to participate in the campus community outside of the classroom. I found all of the clubs I’m a member of from Club Fest. I’m currently involved in the Cornell Skiing and Snowboarding Club and the Cornell Dungeons and Dragons Club.
