Meet Emma

Major: operations research and engineering
Hometown: Washington, DC

Why did you choose Cornell and/or Cornell Engineering?
I chose Cornell because of the incredible people that I met when I toured. I was amazed at how enthusiastic about the Engineering experience and involved in clubs and projects everyone was. Also, the Cornell Engineering curriculum allowed to be a Dance minor as well!

What is your favorite thing about Cornell and/or Cornell Engineering?
My favorite thing about Cornell Engineering is the relationships I have formed. I have met some of my best friends from my major, and we love to work together in Duffield! I really enjoy the collaborative environment. I have also been fortunate to have had incredible professors in my major, who I still talk to even after completing their courses — they always give great advice.

How did you get involved outside the classroom?
Outside of the classroom, I am the Director of Cornell University Sustainable Design (a Systems Engineering project team) and am an Engineering Peer Advisor and Teaching Assistant. I am also a ballet dance and perform with the Performing and Media Arts department, and am involved in Cornell Hillel, Society of Women Engineers, and Alpha Epsilon Phi sorority.
