Benjamin M. Finio

Sibley School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering

Dr. Finio is a part-time lecturer in the Sibley School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at Cornell University. He teaches MAE 3780: Mechatronics, and is working with the Active Learning Initiative at the Center for Teaching Innovation to convert the class to an interactive lecture format. Outside of teaching at Cornell, Dr. Finio’s primary interests are informal K-12 and online science education. As a graduate student, he founded a successful outreach program in the Harvard Microrobotics Lab, visiting numerous schools and science museums in the greater Boston area. Currently he writes online content for a K-12 STEM education nonprofit (Science Buddies), monthly science activity articles for Scientific American, and posts his own personal projects on sites like Instructables and YouTube. He occasionally runs robotics and electronics activities for children and families at local makerspaces and community centers.
